THE JASON RUSSELL HOUSE

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Design Associates, Inc prepared a comprehensive existing conditions study and maintenance plan for the 1740’s Jason Russell House location of a significant skirmish between the British Regulars retreating from the Old North Bridge in Concord and Minutemen from Arlington a surrounding Middlesex County towns. The historic house and museum, owned by the Arlington Historical Society also required construction documents for repairs to exterior gutters and foundations along the north wall. Simpson, Gumphertz and Heger Engineers, Inc assisted with the analysis and repair strategy. The completed report was instrumental in securing a series of grants from state and local agencies for preservation work following the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties and infrastructure upgrades including a ground source heat pump heating and cooling system that replaced an oil-fired furnace.
