WATERSIDE WEST
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Design Associates employed 'New Urbanism' planning principles, developed from over twenty years experience working sympathetically within the traditional neighborhood of Nantucket, to conceive 'Waterside West', a retail, restaurant, residential, and hotel mixed-use project for a six acre site adjacent to historic Newburyport and the Merrimac River.The master plan captures the essence of the Newburyport's 17th, 18th and 19th architectural history as a commercial port and maritime center and reflects the distinct Federal style architecture of Market Square as well as the wharf structures that previously extended toward the waterfront.
